Madrasahs for Jesus, U.S.A.
Monday, September 10th, 2007
While we’re engaged in this existential battle with the Islamo-Fascists, perhaps we should pay some attention to other forms of religious fundamentalism. The radical Muslims have their madrasahs, in Pakistan, and elsewhere, where they school future generations of venom-spewing, whackjob, martyr wannabes. Now Jesus has some madrasahs of his own in the good ole U.S.A.
Here the New York Times reviews the new book God’s Harvard: A Christian College on a Mission to Save America, by Hanna Rosin.
These martyrs may not have nail-covered bombs strapped to themselves, but they are no less dangerous. And they cloak themselves in the guise of a great patriot. Patrick Henry College is the name of the madrasah at issue. What a wonderful semantic game.
Religious fanaticism in any form is intolerable and the enemy of a people, who, while not actually free, at least aspire to freedom, sometimes.
