I think it’s silly. Why kill it? BP or another company should proceed as originally planned, drilling the well, making the oil available for sale. We’re running out, aren’t we.

Why kill a well? Sentimentality? Populist (read “idiot”) furor and clamoring? Accidents happen. Get over it. As Mel Tormé sang so beautifully, “Take a deep breath, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again.”

Killing the well is how a loser and quitter would resolve the situation. And so. That is what we’ve become.

Cynical, “insensitive”, and jaundiced take of the afternoon.
